Anna Lena von Helldorff
Anna Lena studied at the Art Academies of Berlin and Leipzig until 2004. In 2006 she founded the collective studio buero total in Leipzig. In 2014 she co-founded the Art Association KV –Verein für Zeitgenössische Kunst Leipzig- with a team of artists, curators and art-historians where she organizes exhibitions, talks and public formats, reflecting on contemporary production of visual culture and its resources.
Anna Lena’s praxis is based on the principle of collaboration in varying constellations and formats, reflecting on different forms of exhibiting, presenting, publishing and “making public”. She understands graphic design or rather gestaltung as an editing process to communicate and visualize existing or new structures and their content, as an act of interpretation. Gestaltung can be called a process of translation, a vital part of everyday life, with a focus on the potential relation between language, type, image and meaning, in consideration of the economic conditions of visual production.
